What is a PCR Express test?

A PCR-Express test is the same as an ordinary PCR-test, with the exception that the results are analyzed on-site. This is the best alternative when an accurate answer is required within the shortest possible time.

The saliva sample is provided by spitting in a tube, so it's essential that the patient adheres to the following advice:

Avoid dental care (incl. mouth wash), coffee, tobacco and food for at least 30 minutes before giving the sample.

As the sample is not sent to a laboratory for analysis, the results does not comply with the requirements of NS-EN ISO 15189.

When you need a "Fit to fly" certificate, a regular PCR-test is required. This is sent to the laboratory for testing and you can expect an answer within 1-3 days.

This test is less accurate than the ordinary PCR-test, but is offered on more locations and the result is ready within 30 minutes.
